We are flying out of Auckland to Sydney tomorrow, for a week-long visit. While we're there we'll be meeting Anne's cousin Robert and his wife, who are flying up from Tasmania for a couple of days, going to the opera (Julius Caesar, by Handel) and also meeting my sister-in-law Sheila and her friend Rosemary, who will be coming back to stop with us at Mission Bay.
That's about it for now, but Anne says that every blog should have a picture, so the one at the top is one I took a couple of days ago during a visit to a Gannet colony at Muriwai, in the Waitakere Ranges.

"Julius Ceaser" is one of my MOST FAVORITE operas. You lucky guys, you! Hope you had a real countertenor rather than a woman in that part!
We have been back from Caversham for almost two weeks now but it seems like yesterday since we were only home a week from our 3 weeks in England, then went to Minnesota for our granddaughter's wedding. Returned late last night and had church and then the opera today - Verdi's "Macbeth." Great voices, great music, but lousy staging - very modern. Ugh!
Thanks for the use of your home!
Hi Gigi, thanks for the kind words. We enjoyed the Handel very much and yes, JC was sung by a counter-tenor, though he and the rest of the singers got off to a shaky start. Just reading your blog of the UK trip makes me feel exhausted, I honestly would try and avoid the coach tours in future. I do hope you found our humble shack convenient, if nothing else ;-)
Regards, N.
